The Eye Disease Foundation golf tournament raised $160,000
July 15, 2010On June 14, approximately 180 people from the business and optical fields gathered at Le Mirage golf club in Terrebonne for the second edition of the Eye Disease Foundation’s golf tournament.
The tournament’s patrons were Mr. Guy Couture, vice-president Sales and Individual Insurance Qc for Manulife Financial, and Mr. Gabriel Couture, president of Groupe financier Stratège. The funds raised will go towards research on ocular diseases. It will also help organize various activities to raise people’s awareness, particularly the “Participe pour voir” program.
A friendly tournament
After a delicious brunch, the participants had the chance to receive tips from professional golfer Ian Leggatt. Around 11 a.m., all 144 golfers scattered on the golf course for a Vegas style game. Afterwards, the guests were invited to a cocktail and dinner. Stand-up comics Sylvain Larocque and André Sauvé entertained throughout the evening.
Mr. Martial Gagné, president of the Foundation and of New Look Eyewear, thanked the participants for their generosity that raised a total of $160,000.
